Please could you address your text on Hyperparathyroidism? It confuses HYPERparathyroidism (high blood calcium/low bone calcium) with HYPOparathyroidism (low blood calcium).
Thanks. 🙏

I am careful with raw spinach. I slightly vapor most (always organic) veggies, unless I mix them a bit, raw, in salads. You beautifully honor the daring path your dad stepped into, while at the same time you found your own style and new ways to create. Bravo and thank you. claire

Do you miss them daily or miss having them daily, lol. I was eating almonds almost daily before I wised up. 🙂 Glad you are doing better, as am I.

Hello Jack! Thank you for your question and for being part of the Food Revolution Network community.

The short answer is that gout and oxalates are actually two separate concerns. Gout is driven by high levels of uric acid in the blood, which comes primarily from the breakdown of purines, not oxalates. So oxalate intake is not typically a primary concern for people managing gout.

What people with gout are generally advised to watch are high-purine foods such as organ meats, shellfish, red meat, and alcohol, particularly beer (which I’m sure you already know). Staying well hydrated and maintaining a healthy weight are also consistently recommended.

That said, some people can have both gout and a tendency toward kidney stones, in which case oxalate awareness might become relevant as a secondary consideration. It’s always good to ask your doctor or practitioner if they have any concerns about oxalate consumption for you and your health history. –Ina, Food Revolution Network Team

Hi Julie, I’m so glad you found out that oxalates tend to be an issue for you! We are all different and go through different learning experiences about what our bodies need and tolerate. Thank you for sharing your story! -Ina, Food Revolution Network Team

Finally determined I was on a high oxalate diet. Once I became aware of my consumption and became more conscious I have been free!
Been over two years and while I miss almonds and dark chocolate daily I still am able to imbibe occasionally. Life is good!
