I am going through chemotherapy and am suffering with low iron but high ferritin.
Doctors advised all what is in your article but less in depth, fun or interesting. The one thing that they suggest despite not being Irish, is to drink Guinness, thankfully you find it alcohol free in the UK. I never had either before but it was perfectly drinkable, cool is better.

I’ve been deficient in Iron most of my adult life any tie I’ve been tested. I was initially given iron supplements but because of already having problems with slow motility the iron prescribed to me caused severe consitpation. Later on I tried vegetarian options for iron including liquid iron yet my iron levels didn’t improve. Eventually, in my 40s I had IV Iron treatments at the hospital. I was told the type they gave me were also given to pregnant women who are low in iron. It did help me but later on my iron levels became low again and my ferritin levels are also testing low. I’ve often been diagnosed with major depression, have always been sedentary and have often felt very tired most of my life, sleeping much more than other people. I’m so hopeful to try some of these ideas and also to get checked for the diseases that are mentioned in this article as I seem to have difficulty absorbing some other things too. I have been vegetarian much of my adult life but periods of eating meat in college and around others. I’ve also had difficulty absorbing meat, but don’t care for it so that’s ok. I have tried to eat lots of beans and lentils, eggs, but have had difficulty eating lots of dark leafy greens. I have dentures, and no teeth, and so some foods are better for me cooked in soups and stews which I love. I will try these recommendations for adding vitamins and A rich foods to the iron rich foods that I eat. After reading this article I’m concerned that I may have inflammatory bowel disease and I will talk to my gastrointestinal doctor about this.
