It is best to keep these as two separate steps rather than combining baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into one solution. Baking soda is alkaline, and mixing it with hydrogen peroxide can cause the peroxide to break down more quickly, which reduces its effectiveness as a sanitizer. So combining them in the same soak could actually work against you.

The approach you described, using the baking soda soak first to help loosen and reduce pesticide residues, then following with a hydrogen peroxide soak to help sanitize against bacteria, is a sound two step method. A simple rinse under running water between the two steps is a good idea as well, since it helps remove the baking soda solution before the peroxide step and gives you a cleaner overall result.

A couple of small additional notes. For the baking soda soak, our guidance is generally around one ounce of baking soda per one hundred ounces of water for about fifteen minutes, since higher concentrations are not necessarily more effective and just waste product. For food grade hydrogen peroxide, it is worth double checking the concentration you are diluting from, since food grade hydrogen peroxide is often sold at three percent, but some products are sold much stronger and require careful dilution before produce use. Always rinse produce well with clean water after the hydrogen peroxide step before eating or storing it.
