Thank you Anna for sharing your experience. Fresh poppy due have a unique vibrant taste, and it is nice when you can find them. Perhaps finding a local herb farmer? When searching for dried spices and ingredients it can be important to know your sources and look for vibrant colors and pleasant aromatics. I hope you can find options that work for you!

So, there is no problem in consuming natural fresh harvest poppy seeds? Should you wash them first? The article seems to mention this procedure. How is your way to use them?

They were delicious. When grown I was unable to find poppy seeds in stores. I finally found a store that sold them. When I tasted them, they were nothing like the fresh seeds. The store bought seeds lacked flavor. Have not bought poppy seeds since that time.

I stopped using poppy seeds, as I found eating spinach salad with poppy seeds would trigger a migraine. Not worth it.
